ooming back and forth across the room, it almost did look like a real car! These modern toys, as the sales showed, certainly sparked the imagination of many, and were the big hit of the holiday season. Using different sizes of metal plates, higher, wider and more intricate constructions could be built, which could even be connected to electricity-powered engines.

These engines in turn powered wheels or cogs, setting the creations in motion. But it wasn't just vehicles, entire buildings or Rube Goldberg machines were created using the colourful plates!
