Typearture: Typefaces by Arthur Reinders Folmer, is his adventure in type, creating type designs with a focus on conceptual, illustrative and ornamental typefaces.
The typefaces in the Typearture library are not just collections of glyphs, but typefaces that use the conventions of type design and written language to tell their stories. These stories are woven throughout the typefaces, connecting A to Z and the Lemniscate to Question mark. Each character has it’s place and meaning, making each keystroke a small tale in itself.
Typearture also offers custom client type, for the possibilities of custom typefaces you can get in touch.
Typearture fonts don’t thrive in a foundry environment of black and white text waterfalls, so with the great code, support and patience of Jannes & Mannes this website was made: A site where each typeface could show it’s world, uses and story.

Licensing Typearture software

End-User License Agreement for Typearture font software
IMPORTANT PLEASE READ THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THIS LICENSE AGREEMENT CAREFULLY BEFORE CONTINUING WITH THIS PROGRAM INSTALL:
Typearture’s End-User License Agreement (“EULA”) is a legal agreement between you (either an individual or a single entity) and Typearture. for the Typearture software product(s) identified above which may include associated software components, media, printed materials, and “online” or electronic documentation of the Typearture font software. By installing, copying, or otherwise using the Typearture font software you agree to be bound by the terms of this EULA. This license agreement represents the entire agreement concerning the program between you and Typearture (referred to as “licenser”), and it supersedes any prior proposal, representation, or understanding between the parties. If you do not agree to the terms of this EULA, do not install or use the Typearture font software.
The font software is protected by copyright laws and international copyright treaties, as well as other intellectual property laws and treaties. The Typearture font software is licensed, not sold.
1. GRANT OF LICENSE.
The Typearture font software is licensed as follows:
(a) Installation and Use.
Typearture grants you the right to install and use Typearture font software, for a maximum of five users.
(b) Extended License.
The use of Typearture font software for more than five users requires an Extended License.
(c) Backup Copies.
You may make one copy of the Typearture font software as may be necessary for backup and archival purposes. Otherwise only PDF’s may be created from this software. If this proves to be insufficient, such as in the case with working with a copystore, a copy may be made which afterwards must be destroyed.
2. DESCRIPTION OF OTHER RIGHTS AND LIMITATIONS.
(a) Maintenance of Copyright Notices.
You must not remove or alter any copyright notices on any and all copies of the Typearture font software.
(b) Distribution.
You may not distribute registered copies of the Typearture font software to third parties.
(c) Prohibition on Reverse Engineering, Decompilation, and Disassembly.
You may not adapt, rename, reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Typearture font software.
(d) Rental.
You may not rent, lease, or lend the Typearture font software.
(e) Support Services.
Typearture may provide you with support services related to the Typearture font software (“Support Services”). Any supplemental software code provided to you as part of the Support Services shall be considered part of the Typearture font software and subject to the terms and conditions of this EULA.
(f) Compliance with Applicable Laws.
You must comply with all applicable laws regarding use of the Typearture font software.
3. TERMINATION
Without prejudice to any other rights, Typearture may terminate this EULA if you fail to comply with the terms and conditions of this EULA. In such event, you must destroy all copies of the Typearture font software in your possession.
4. COPYRIGHT
All title, including but not limited to copyrights, in and to the Typearture font software and any copies thereof are owned by Typearture or its suppliers. All title and intellectual property rights in and to the content which may be accessed through use of the Typearture font software is the property of the respective content owner and may be protected by applicable copyright or other intellectual property laws and treaties. This EULA grants you no rights to use such content. All rights not expressly granted are reserved by Typearture.
5. NO WARRANTIES
Typearture expressly disclaims any warranty for the Typearture font software. The Typearture font software is provided ‘As Is’ without any express or implied warranty of any kind, including but not limited to any warranties of merchantability, noninfringement, or fitness of a particular purpose. Typearture does not warrant or assume responsibility for the accuracy or completeness of any information, text, graphics, links or other items contained within the Typearture font software. Typearture makes no warranties respecting any harm that may be caused by the transmission of a computer virus, worm, or other such computer program. Typearture further expressly disclaims any warranty or representation to Authorized Users or to any third party.
6. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
In no event shall Typearture be liable for any damages (including, without limitation, lost profits, business interruption, or lost information) rising out of ‘Authorized Users’ use of or inability to use the Typearture font software, even if Typearture has been advised of the possibility of such damages. In no event will Typearture be liable for loss of data or for indirect, special, incidental, consequential (including lost profit), or other damages based in contract, tort or otherwise. Typearture shall have no liability with respect to the content of the Typearture font software or any part thereof, including but not limited to errors or omissions contained therein, libel, infringements of rights of publicity, privacy, trademark rights, business interruption, personal injury, loss of privacy, moral rights or the disclosure of confidential information.
Is it possible to buy a single style of a typeface?
All typefaces are sold only as shown in the shop’s product details.
Do you offer larger licences than 5 workstations?

Are Typearture fonts available as webfonts?
Some typefaces (such as the Pegacorn Initials) won’t translate into webfonts well, so there is no webfont version for them. For webfont versions of other typefaces: Get in touch.
I can’t access all of the typeface’s characters or abilites
Some of the features of Typearture fonts are optimised for desktop publishing software. Accessing special characters or functions takes some extra steps in more basic software, you can find these steps in the manual accompanying the typeface.
I have technical issues with a typeface
Every machine or operating system is unique so it is possible an issue can occur. If you have a technical issue I’ll look into fixing them. If the issue can’t be solved, a refund is offered if you got in touch about the issue within 30 days of purchase.
Why are your fonts latin alphabet only?
Latin is the only script I fully grasp, so when you want to make combine a concept with script and shape, that’s where you start. I’d love to at expand my families though, Fabel in Cyrillic or Greek would be fascinating!.
Why do you make these kind of fonts?
I try to create typefaces that don’t exist, usually combining them with some amusement or hidden jokes. The (type) world is already serious enough!
What’s with the unicorns?
It all started with them: The Unicorn Typeface was the first typeface I approached in a different way: Can I make expression in text and image equal? You can still download them for free, but be careful, they aren’t optimised.
Are you really a conspiracy theorist?
Try the dingbats enough and I guess you’ll find out! But no: I used to be amused by them, until the whole world seemed to turn into a tinfoil hat party.
